About

  • Hi, I’m Emily, a qualified social worker with a background in psychology, providing counselling to support people with their mental health and overall wellbeing.

I know that seeking support can feel daunting, especially if you’re not sure where to start or whether therapy is even “for you.” My role is to walk alongside you, to help you make sense of what’s happening in your life, understand yourself more deeply, and find practical ways forward that feel realistic and sustainable.

I’m especially passionate about supporting teenagers, young adults, and those navigating life transitions. As a mother myself, I also understand how identity, roles, and responsibilities can shift over time, and how easy it is to feel overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself along the way.

Above all, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and respected, not judged, labelled, or rushed. You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin; we’ll work things out together, at your pace.

  • My practice is grounded in a person-centred, holistic, and strengths-based approach. As a social worker, I view mental health through a biopsychosocial lens, recognising that our wellbeing is shaped by our relationships, environment, experiences, and nervous system, not just our thoughts or behaviours.

I don’t focus on diagnosing or pathologising people. Instead, I aim to understand your story and support you to build insight, skills, and confidence to take an active role in your wellbeing.

I draw on evidence-based approaches including ACT, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and psychoeducation. Sessions are collaborative and practical, and tailored to your goals, needs, and readiness for change.

My core values are respect, compassion, autonomy, authenticity, and empowerment. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel safe, understood, and supported to reconnect with their own strengths and values.

  • My professional experience means you’re working with someone who understands mental health both clinically and in real life. I’m a qualified social worker with a background in psychology, and I’ve spent years supporting people across different stages of life and in a wide range of settings.

I’ve worked in adult mental health, family services, disability support, and as a school counsellor in a secondary school. This breadth of experience allows me to quickly understand what might be influencing your mental health, whether that’s emotional regulation, trauma, family dynamics, identity, stress, or the systems around you.

Having supported people through anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, grief, trauma, and complex life transitions, I’m comfortable sitting with difficult conversations and helping people feel safe while we work through them together. I’m also experienced in working with young people and families, and in navigating practical supports when life feels overwhelming.

What this means for you is thoughtful, grounded care, informed by evidence, shaped by real-world experience, and tailored to your unique situation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Integrity, creativity, and empathy shape the way we work. These aren't just words, they’re the foundation of everything we build.

  • Therapy doesn’t need to be one-size-fits-all.

What sets my practice apart is the flexibility and creativity I bring to counselling. Alongside traditional sessions, I offer nature-based therapy, walk-and-talk counselling, in-home sessions, and creative approaches, where appropriate. These options can support nervous system regulation, reduce pressure, and make therapy feel more accessible.

As a social worker, I also look beyond the individual, offering family support, case management, and connection with community resources when helpful.

I work best with people who feel stuck but ready for change, those looking for practical support, deeper understanding, and a counselling approach that meets them where they are.
